Thank you for your suggestion to introduce social activities into the company’s policy that holds promising initiatives to maintain work-life balance. 

In accordance to our meeting yesterday, I have framed some social activities that we agreed upon. Please find below the details of these activities including the location, probable days, and the agreed time. The supporting sources for these events in conjunction to promoting the work-life balance are included as reference below. I hope, you will find these suggestions to fit well with the work routine as well as flexibility of employees. 

1. Activity one - Sporting event

The company can plan for organizing sporting event like volleyball or football for the employees on Friday afternoon at nearby playground. The event will be kept casual and fun, as most of the employees are non-athletic. The employees were allowed to include their family members as the audience and can even cheer with them. Arrangements for refreshments and sitting facilities for audience should be done by the employer. In total, two to three matches comprises of different employee’s team, will be organised. The first and second prize for the winner and runner-up will cost $75 and $50 respectively. The remaining amount will be spent on refreshments and other related arrangements. As suggested by Bolman and Deal (2017), sport event helps in creating a better company culture, develop team spirit as well as employees get to know more of each other. Organizing sports events in workplace brings out the best player and the leadership quality. These type of events hope in making the corporate culture alive through various gaming strategies which is usually elapsed under work pressure. 

2. Activity two - Spa event

Providing corporate spa treatment to the employees as a token of perk for their valuable contribution, is nowadays an effective mode to promote work life balance. This events can be scheduled every quarterly on Thursday by 7pm within the workplace. The spa or massage therapists will be called to the office and will provide each employees with a 30-minute spa treatment. The spa treatments will include massage, manicure, pedicure, skin treatment and steam sauna, according to the employee requirement. This event not only relaxes and recharges them but also genetics a sense of motivation and trust for the organization. Additionally, introducing such gift vouchers to the employees generate a sense of competitiveness and productive employees in the organisation. The refreshment cost and fees for therapist will be compensated within $500. 

3. Activity three - Cook off 

Organizing a culinary team building activity with the company staffs is also a great idea to maintain work-life balance. The event can be organized on Wednesday 5 p.m. in the common dining and kitchen room of the company. The event includes the expenses for buying cooking aprons for each employees, some fruits, vegetables and spices which will cost within $500 and the total cost per person will be less than $25. The employees will be divided into 3 smaller groups and each group will be assigned a particular food category which could be either dessert, or a starter. Each group will have to prepare something delicious from their assigned food category. To make the activity more interesting a fun twist can also be included, which suggests to include one single common ingredient (maple syrup or curd or chocolate syrup) for all groups. According to Isaku and Iba (2016) such fun activity can be implemented in business which help in developing creativity and leadership skill within the employees and distress them from the work pressure. 

4. Activity four – Kayaking

Kayaking is another idea of social event that can be organized by the company for the employees on Friday afternoon (Atlamazoglou, 2018).  This activity becomes a great fun with the colleagues and gives them opportunity to interact with each other, apart from the work related conversation. Kayaking provides a perfect mixture of teamwork, outdoor experience and mild exercise for the employees. The nearby suitable location for the employee is Sheesa beach which can be assessed by walk in 20 minutes. This activity is fairly cheaper than any other outdoor activities and can easily managed within $40 per employees. During the group paddling effort in Kayaking, most of the employees create friends which can eventually help in workplace teamwork.
