Question: What socio-economic class would you say you are in? Why? In your discussion, apply Max Weber's concept of SES.
Solution:
Preface:
Social class is a prominent characteristic as it is the most wide-ranging and consequential social category of human beings. The socio-economic class will bring with that a set of shapes and influences to the child in the life. As the life changes and proceeds with, the social class will define the pathway of the person as well will detail the set of life styles and changes he or she will be forced to in the life progression. The following part of the report attempts to provide a comprehensive overview of the socio-economic class and its multi-faceted profile is studied and provided with set of inferences about the same (Grusky, 2019).
Socio Economic class what does it mean?
All the people having the same social or economic or educational class do mean socio-economic class. The interests emotions and other aspects of these people will be considered while working with the characteristics of this class. Socio-economic class do mean these aspects in general (Yates and Lockley,2018).
My own Socio-Economic class:
I belong to the African American social class, As African Americans do have unique environment and they are subjected to unique treatment and experiences, it is rational to consider them as a specific social class. Coming to the economic aspects, mine is an "upper middle class" economy group, because I belong to the family settled in America few generations back and my parents had well established small scale entrepreneur business, I can consider myself in upper middle class economy group. As a whole it is upper middle class Africo-American social class.
Impact by Socio-Economic Class:
I do have both good and bad experiences due to my socio-Economic class. At the outset, during my childhood, I felt some sort of discrimination and suppression due to economic class. This is just due to my social economic class, however within my own community, there is distinct recognition for us and people used to respect me for our family status and this is a good experience for me. Weber's SES (Waters, 2016) are three independent factors that work for the theory of stratification hierarchy like the class, status and power. I believe my class is not superior when compared affluent families used to live in our locality (Atleast treated so in general), my status is reasonably good in my own community but not ingeneral. Coming to power, well this is now undergoing change, democratic powers are now equally distributed and everyone has previlige to experience and reflect legitimate power as per their position in the society.

Question: -Give an example from your life where you were impacted by your socio-economic class. In your discussion here, include elements of your own definition, and your discussion of Weber's SES.
Solution:
Experiences:
• There is an experience of discrimination in my child hood due to my socio-economic class. During my childhood we were living in a community more populated by the affluent families. I could not able to get admission in that institute as my parents annual income is less than the minimum limits imposed in the school. It is wonderful school, and I really wanted to join in that school. They denied admission into these schools for me, just because of my socio-economic class. This is bad experience and this directly reflected the Weber's class based social stratification. I did experienced that in my primary education itself. However now the situation is not that much bad, the fees were made affordable and federal government sealing of the fees also restricted too high fees. However the scars made before will not change and they remain as they are in my conscious.
• Another experience is also due to my social class and economic status. There was an instance, when I proposed marriage to an Indian girl settled in United States. They have migrated to the States from Africa. They originally belong to India, but due to the conditions in Africa, came here to United States. After a short episode of love and relationship the girl agreed for my proposal, however the parents of the girl did not accept me to marry their daughter. This was also due to the fact, that our family is in upper middle class range, which that Indian family did not want to match with. They got their daughter married with a rich Indian family settled there in the aftermath. Weber's class stratification is directly experienced by me in both these contexts.
Question: Discuss whether or not you think that socio-economic class has a cultural component to it, and why/why not.
Solution:
Socio-Economic class and cultural components:
Yes there is scope for the association of the culture with socio-economic classes. How the shared beliefs will become part of the culture in a socio-economic class will define the complex socio-economic class of the people. For example, particular trend or shared liking of some sort of clothes and living style will later will be absorbed as a culture of the socio-economic class. This culture has very close relationship with the socio-economic status.

Question: In your discussion, include two outside media sources where socio-economic class play a central role in the story.
Solution:
Resemblance:
My experience of suppression associated with socio-economic class is not very unique. There are several socio-economic classes like working classes, lower income classes etc suffering with even more injustice in the current society. A recent article indicated that not just getting access to a good education, even access for bare health needs has become a scarce resource for certain socio-economic classes. Lack of jobs, opportunities and income has resulted in this disparity. Though Medicaid and Medicare are provided by federal government, there are few areas, where the benefits are not still felt (Plosmedicine).
Though there is suppression and underprivileged associated with the social classes seen now a days. The time was changed and it seems socio-economic classes playing a key role in deciding the political powers in the country. A recent media article illustrated the Donald Trump planning for greater mileage for his party, by taking advantage of underprivileged socio-economic classes like blue caller workers etc (JohnHarwood, 2019).
Tieing up all:
United States constitution is committed to provide equality to all citizens of the nation. The struggles and battles of stratified classes from generations has not gone waste, the changes are happening discreetly and good times are ahead. I believe the institutional changes at macro level can work on to mitigate the complications at micro level in coming times and all social groups and economic classes will enjoy the equality in coming times more effectively.
