Assignment Question - In her book Lectures on Philosophy, Simone Weil wrote the following passage: "Human beings are so made that the ones who do the crushing feel nothing; it is the person crushed that feels what is happening. Unless one has placed oneself on the side of the oppressed, to feel with them, one cannot understand" (Weil, 1978, p. 139). As this assignment follows an essay format, it requires an introduction, a conclusion and a coherent argument throughout.

Research statement

The topic I have chosen to focus on in my final assignment is: Social work on AIDS/HIV affected Australian aboriginals in the society

I have chosen this topic because:

There are thousands of individuals who are being affected with AIDS but society has taken it into a wrong concept. Even they are considered to be untouchable and differently treated in the society. It is rightly said by Simone Weil that ones who are crushed actually feel the pressure and not the ones who crushes the individuals. They would not face until they are in the same position or are affected with the same issue. Among the Australian aboriginals, it has been found that the rate has risen to about 41% which has been drastic in nature.

The keywords I used to search for these resources: AIDS/HIV affected individual, social workers, challenges for AIDs affected individual, mental agony

Summary: There have been millions of people who are a victim to the society since they are being affected with HIV or AIDS which are being looked down. However, this monograph has shown that developments are being taking place so that zero tolerance is promoted to the issue. The main fact that since they are the oppressed one therefore there has been need of developments and social work as well.
