The Article - The newspaper The Daily Star published an article on the 14th of January in the year 2016 and it was called "Reliability of Online News Sources".
The subtext of the article lies in the question that runs through the minds of all those people of the world using the internet on a daily basis and it asks whether the internet lies or not (Internet and Rahman, 2019). The article focuses mostly on the aspects of truthfulness that can be expected from various online sources. The article moves on to comment on sites like "The Onion" and "Portly Gazelle" that deliberately scams people through the realm of satire for the sake of entertainment.

Critical thoughts - The article published by The Daily Star gets us to think on a very significant issue that is related to the interpersonal communications that starts online (Internet and Rahman, 2019). The internet is an ocean, which is deep and dark as well but not always a credible source. News from all over the world regarding how the darker side of the internet affects our daily lives is published in different places. From fake identities to money scams, from false notions of recovery from dangerous diseases to spreading the terror of an attack, the internet is full of these kinds of news that are easy as well as cheap and is a source of cheap entertainment to certain people (Caughlin and Basinger, 2015). Therefore, before believing anything and everything we see online we need to let out better judgement decide its worth. We need to be safe from hoaxes of these types in order to live in a world that is free from deceptive communication.
The context of the article can be better describes with an example or rather an incident that took place in the same year as the publication of the above mentioned article (Caughlin and Basinger, 2015). The US Elections were conducted on the same year and fake news were flocking the social media sites. Using masks to hide their true identities, these makers of fake news discussed controversial topics without proper facts and misguided general public. While Facebook was able to break down the concept, the conspiracy theory of "Pizzagate" spread fast and resulted in a person open firing in the restaurant D.C. pizza. Oxford Dictionary went a step further to call the 2016 a year of "post-truth" and it was right to do so.

The interpersonal communication deals with a lot of theories and one such theory can be used here to better understand the credibility issues of the internet or better to understand the extent of its effect on us humans (Caughlin and Basinger, 2015). The communication privacy management theory is about the relationship between two parties who decides whether to be open or keep in private the information gathered from the communication. The internet fails to keep up with it almost daily. The information that is co-owned by two or more people and is on the internet can go viral anytime either from the parties involved or from any other person who can access it through technology. Boundaries are often a vague concept and that is proven well by the John Snowden through his documentary that showed how the US government tracks all individuals. Therefore, communication is not safe as it can be presented in a misguided way to create chaos.
Questions - So, we face critical questions regarding the authenticity of internet.
1. Is the internet really a place to waste all our quality time into?
2. Do we continue taking every news fed by the internet sources as true or open up our eyes about the world through education and have actual face-to-face communication?
