Philosophical Analysis Assignment
Question:
In the Apology, Plato has Socrates tell the jury that if they released him on the condition that he stop doing philosophy, he would disobey them. In the Crito, on the other hand, Plato has Socrates say that one should never disobey one's city. Develop and defend a thesis about this apparent contradiction. If you think the two positions are compatible, explain, with evidence from the text, how that can be. If you think that the one or the other of the passages is more definitive of Plato's thought, explain why we should place less weight on what he says on the other passage.

Paper #1
Obey thew gods
Crito and Apology are two Philosophies by Plato, and according to those two philosophies, Socrates obeyed the Apology, because Apology expresses that if anyone is preventing another to practise Philosophy, then another should reject his views. That shows that one must need an aim or objective to live a life. If he/she does not have any of the two things, then he/she may not have the right to live. Like here, Socrates is a person who likes to live his life in his way. When the other people were forcing him to practise Philosophy, then he rejected them and chose to commit suicide. However, he realized that suicide is the way of cowards . That is the reason, Socrates left that task for the others. At this stage, Socrates became seventy years old, and according to that time, no one lived more than seventy years, and Socrates had to die for that reason. After analyzing the overview of the Philosophy 'Obey the Gods' it can be said that following the philosophy of Apology Socrates stuck to his own will and this can be considered as the strength of this Philosophy.
In the last of this philosophy, it has identified that Socrates wanted to live his life forever as he wished to. Moreover, the other did not get that chance to Socrates, and when they agreed and came to kill Socrates, he did not want to be killed. However, according to philosophy of Crito, Socrates had to consider his life to them who wanted to kill him. As he did not want to commit suicide by himself, he let them to the others to do that task. Though he wanted to live his life; however, he did not get that opportunity and had to accept his death by others .

Paper #2
Plato Paper
According to the Plato Paper, when the court offered to Socrates to give him freedom in order to quit Philosophical Practises, Socrates answered that he would not accept as he could not think of quitting philosophical practices. Here is one of the strengths of this philosophy that express to stick with one's own Philosophy. Socrates followed the law of divine without accepting the laws created by human beings. This Philosophy has the strength to follow a single one who is almighty. According to Socrates, he would not quit trusting the mighty God. He even prefered death; however, he expressed that God told him to go around the states. Form these Philosophies; it can be identified two more strengths which convey Socrates's trust and dedication to God and fearless about to death .
Though the philosophy of Socrates has lots of strengths; however, there are some weaknesses in his Philosophy. He conveyed that he only prefered divine laws; however, he conveyed others to listen to both the divine laws and human laws. The evidence showed that he expressed to follow the higher laws; however, Socrates had to follow the lower law in the court at the time of his judgement. Another weakness of this philosophy is, Socrates was depended on the Divine powers. As a philosopher, he did not have the strength of any decision making. All the decisions he took had given by God .
Paper #3
Obey the law or persuade the state
According to Socrates, there was a law in Greek that conveyed that if one is not interested in listening to the government, then he might persuade from there. Socrates also followed that rule and said to the people to do the same. From this Philosophy, it is easy to analyze that people might follow the laws of the government. In can be considered as a strength. It could be said that Socrates said to follow blind obedience. However, Crito rejected this to be regarded as weakness and explained in two alternatives to establish this as the strength. Socrates told this Philosophy as 'Obey or Persuade', and it's vice versa 'Persuade or Obey' .
This philosophy expressed more weaknesses than strengths. Socrates told to follow the rules of the state; however, he did not obey the law by himself. The state ordered to follow the rules; otherwise, they gave the option of persuading. Here, Socrates did not ready to follow any of the two choices. There is another evidence that Weakens the philosophy of Socrates. When Socrates was in prison and did not prepared to accept the rules, in that meantime, he got the scope for escaping; however, he did not escape. According to him, sometimes it's better to broke the rules or disobey the laws to uplift to society. These pieces of evidence are enough to express the weaknesses of this philosophy .
Conclusion
In order to fulfil the assignment, one needs to evaluate the three different Philosophies. After analyzing these Philosophies, one can easily understand the strengths and weaknesses of the philosophies. In the time of analysis, one can also identify the nature of Socrates and how he utilizes and breaks these scopes for the sake of the country development.
