Answer: Journal: The Violations Of Osha Construction Standard Contributed To Dallas Crane Accident
The Dallas crane accident entailed a collapse of a construction crane which was brought down by a powerful thunderstorm that hit Texas on June 9, 2019. Indeed, analysis of this incident indicates a number of OSHA standards were violated in establishment of this crane. Accordingly, these violations could have contributed to the accident. For instance, the company that owned and operated the crane, Harrison Hoist Inc. failed to fully implement measures to prevent or curb the risks related with the effects of weather and wind speed on the equipment. They also did not harbor or put in place appropriate procedures for disassembling the tower crane in a manner that the equipment or part of it does not collapse. It should also be noted that there were no checks to ensure that the equipment and all its parts are stable and adequately supported. It should also be reckoned that the management failed to stipulate the disassembly procedures that could position workers in a way that reduce or prevent their exposure to possible collapse of unintended movement. Furthermore, it appears that the company did not have an expert or qualified person who would produce proper disassembly procedures for the workers. At the time of the cranes collapse, the workers were removing the top portion of the crane's mast. Investigations revealed that these workers were not following proper procedures while doing so.
