Project scope
This project needs a practical implementation of network design for the organization. The organization consists of four buildings adjacent to each other and there are multiple floors in each building. The layer 3 switch is to be deployed in the basement which is connected to each departments switch, the topology in this project is star topology.
Project hardware Requirements
- Routers: to connect the internal private IP 172.16.100.0/22 to the internet provided by ISP. For this the router runs routing protocols like static routing or OSPF, RIP as dynamic routing.
- Layer 3 Switch: It is used for DHCP IP address allocation to the internal PCs and connecting mobile devices. Beside this it also configures VLAN to bifurcate different departments in the organization.
- Switch: To interconnect the PCs of the department, it works in layer 2 of the OSI model and transfers the packets based on the MAC address of the PCs.
- PCs: user PCs having network interface cards and required specifications.
- Wireless devices : WIFI 802.11 routers to connect the mobile devices

The layer 3 switch is configured with VLAN and DHCP as per the requirement of the organization. The simulation of the network design is done in cisco packet tracer and the results and configuration is shown in this report.
