According to Elliott, Huizinga, and Menard (2012), mental health disorder is a condition that affects the individual's behaviour, mood and thinking. Our fast pacing lives is one of the reasons every one in recent times are dealing with some or the other forms of mental illness. The most common mental health issue that is prevalent amongst both children and adult is Depression. As stated by Johnstone, and Dallos (2013), depression is a serious mental health condition that impacts a person's mood as they feel negative or low, loss of interest in various activities and feeling sad.
Depression as a mental health issue is increasing worldwide as people are so busy and have negligible amount of time for themselves. According to Elder (2018) teenagers and college students are the ones mostly affected by depression. Academic expectations, biological changes in the body, peer pressure and low self-esteem is the major causes of depression. Depression in teens and college students is not a small issue that can be treated immediately. It is a serious consequence that requires a lot of medical and psychological attention. as stated in the article by Bowmer (2019), depression in US college going students in last five years have doubled and they require treatment which is nor properly provided by the college and schools. The universities are expanding their clinics for mental health issues but the development is very slow and the demand up surging. Jamie Davidson and associate VP for student wellness at Nevada university told that her school is struggling with huge number of students who require mental health attention. She also stated that they have 11 professional counsellors for 30000 students but still the work seems difficult.
The perspective chosen to explain depression are Behavioural and Biological perspective. According to Gilbert (2016) argued that emergence of depression is due to lack of behavioural reinforcements. An increase in evading behaviour and lack of constructive reinforcement is the main reason behind student's depression. Children from the start attain a lot of attention from his family, friend etc. As the child is growing up people tend show less care and attentiveness towards the child which contributes to their aggravating behaviour and depression.
As stated by Stein, Leventhal, and Trabasso (2013), biological perspective targets the chemical and genetic imbalance in the brain that leads to depression. The child surrounding and society plays a primary role in their mental health issue. However, if an individual's mood disorder cannot be explained by their stressful life structure or family history, then it may be caused due to Neurological disorder. In those cases, the depressive symptoms may manifest since early childhood. According to Yapko (2013) researchers have argued the biological causes that leads to depression in teenagers are genetic vulnerabilities, medical problems, medicines, stressful life and brain regulation. Hence, hormones fluctuations and changes in physical appearance can be explained by biological theories of depression.
The best perspective that explains depression in teenagers is the biological theories as biological theories includes all forms of physical, psychodynamic, developmental, social and cognitive perspective. The influence of biological factors appears to be most protruding in depressive syndrome.

PART 2
To increase public knowledge about depression schools should conduct seminars about depression for students and their parents. These seminars will consist of giving a speech by professional counsellor and they will help the parents understand that being depressed is not a sign of weakness instead it should be supported. parents and students should be motivated and explained not be ashamed about being in depression instead should help each other to overcome this phase.
People tend to take depression lightly but as stated by Sawatzky, et. al. (2012), it is the most common health issue and people having depressive symptoms are most likely to deal with chronic illness. As discussed mostly teens and college going students suffer from depression and at that age, they are mostly vulnerable and have no idea about overcoming the situation. Parents need to make sure they listen to their children and have an open mind towards their changing behavioural pattern. According to Elliott, Huizinga, and Menard (2012), most children are depressed due to problems occurring in schools or at college. Hence the schools should incorporate counselling in their weekly curriculum. People should understand that depression is a serious condition and neglecting the symptoms might enhance it and lead to major consequences like total psychological breakdown or suicide. Thus, manging depression from an early age is very essential as it will help the teenagers to lead a beautiful and stress-free lives.
