This research published as book chapter by Benson et al (2000), highlights the pursuit for flexibility by those nations who have become industrialized. This has especially become evident since the 1980s and is often referred to as the newer frontier for the effective management of labor. In order to sustain and survive in the marketplace, it is essential to understand the needs of the labor and eliminate rigidities so that the labor can rightly be motivated to perform in the otherwise competitive global market. Similar aspects are also noticed for financial and retail sectors where in order to proliferate or diversify their product range, labor evolution is absolutely required.
