(i) Adam and Eve
Adam and Eve, Albrecht Durer, 1504 engraving.
Adam and Eve engraving is a well depiction of very important event described in the bible. This artistic work is a pictorial depiction of the fall of man. The moment, eve received apple from the snake and gave it to Adam; the fall of man has started. It was a prohibited fruit and the temptation was not resisted by the couple. (ii) The founding of Tenochtitlan
The founding of Tenochtitlan page from the codex Mendoza Aztec.1545 CE.
The codex Mendoza is an Aztec codex, which is actually made twenty years after the Spanish conquest of Mexico. The founding contained a past full of Aztec rulers as well also contained depiction of every day Aztec life. Aztec Pictograms are presented with Spanish clarifications and analysis as well. (iii) The hip pendant representing an Iyoba ("Queen mother"), Nigeria c 1550CE.
The hip and pendant mask is created in the early 16th century for Oba, the king of Benin. His name is Esigie and the pendant is commissioned for the sake of his mother Idia. The face of the figure is depicted very naturally, with all the necessary naturalistic features and with several graceful curves. The picture represented naturally the features of his mother; her sacrificial marks on the forehead, her authoritative stand etc. The art work is though presentation of a particular person and personality, the cultural beliefs and association of personality characteristics with particular symbols is well depicted in the representation by the artist (Mundy, 2015).
(iv) Tar Beach
Tar Beach, Faith Ringgold, 1988, Acrylic on canvas and pieced cloth. Located on page 572 of the text book.
It is the best known work and is the first quilt in her woman on a Bridge series about a young African American girl, Cassie Louise light foot, growing in Harlem. The time of publication is about 1991(Farrinton, 2004). The depiction context is the family spending on the roof top of an apartment building by name tar beach. The scene is bordered by fabric squares and many of them are with floral patterns and at the top and bottom of the quilt another border of rectangles contained some text. The artist used text to depict the feelings of the people as well there is also depiction of the colour to repeat floral motif that was created on a garden like border with a sense of familial warmth. Some sought of author's personal messages are also included in the figure, like there is inclusion of artistist's feminist message in the portrait. Also the women are depicted actually as flying there indicating the free spirit the artist visualized for women at those times. The liberation is working to confront the huge masculine icon of the bridge in the portrait.

Compare and contrast of each of the four art works:
Each of the four art works is unique and they are different in terms of their own ideological representation. Adam and Eve art work is unique in the sense it is related with the religious believes and represented well the account of bible in the context of fall of man. The second art work is about the founding of Tenochtitlan, which detailed the depiction about the Aztec empire victories and depiction of the conditions of that time and daily life of Aztec. The culture of the times of mid sixteenth century is well presented in the art work. The hip pendant is also the art work more or less of the same time duration like the sixteenth century, however still the cultural depiction and the symbols and other prominent features represented in the art work are personality oriented and are cantered over the individual. The Tar beach is the latest art work and the symbolization of the freedom of thought and feminism are well depicted in the art work. The first is an art work of prominent religious significance, the second is an art work of historical significance, the third is an art work of cultural significance and the fourth art work is representation of a change of attitude and social belief systems. Though each of the art work is very different from the other, all of them commonly shared certain characteristics like usage of symbols, texts, colors etc to represent the artist's feeling or the intent of the diagrams.
