Aaron Copland was one of exceptional America's classical composers of twentieth century. In his later years, Copeland was referred to as "the dean of American composer" by the public. Among the people, he is best known for his populist and vernacular style of work during the 1930s and 1940s. The works in this form of style includes "Billy the kid and Rodeo", "Ballets Appalachian Spring", "Third symphony", and "his Fanfare for the common Man". Americans consider his slow changing harmonies of his work as archetypical, which was later referred to as the ‘sound of American music'. Copeland incorporated popular forms of American music such as, folk and jazz into his compositions to create extraordinary music. Copland began to compose for films and concert to achieve wide range of audience. Some of his popular compositions which made him won Academy Award are from films like "Our Town (1940)", "Of Mice and Men (1939)", and "The Heiress (1949)". Similarly, his work in concerts and ballets also made him win the Pulitzer Prize. He tried to liberate film music and concert music from European influence through his exceptional and innovative work.

Did his personal perspectives of music in these particular settings impact the direction of music toward the end of the 20th century? If so, provide musical examples (both from Copland and from others he seems to have influenced) that seem to indicate this connection. If not, provide analysis of musical examples.

It is evident that, Aaron Copland's personal perspective of music does not have any significant impact on direction of American music towards the end of 20th century. In 1960, Copland's recording with Boston Symphony Orchestra was released by RCA Victor. By the early 70s, Copland completely stopped writing original music and spent most of his time reworking and conducting his older composition. In this context, he also turned to be a guest conductor at United States and United Kingdom. He begun to review his own work as well as other great American musician's work. Despite of working on new projects, he spent most of his time on conducting his old compositions. For him, conducting was actually an act of synthesizing the old work, which he had done as an organizer and composer. Further, he also started to preserve his endured works. In this purpose, he travelled throughout the world for the next twenty years and conducted live performance and collected all his important recorded works. He made several recordings of his endured compositions during 1970s, especially for Columbia Records. In 1983, Copland carried out his last symphony of his life. Thus, Aaron Copland is still considered as one of the remarkable figure for the 20th American music.
