Task 1 - Costs of operating the business - Using Excel, create a spreadsheet called operating_costs.xlsx that calculates the projected annual outgoing costs of running Tuxedo Zone.

Answer - Tuexedo zone is doing the business of cloth manufacturing. It creates custom Tuexedos for its customers. It has hired three employees to manage the operations of its business. Three employees are named as Amanda, Bridget, and Christina. Amanda and Bridget is involved in the manufacturing of the tuexedos while Christina is involved in managing order sales and delivery. The total operational cost of the business for the year is found by addition of its fixed costs, utility costs and cost incurred in retaining employees. The addition of all the costs for the year comes out to be $ 1,01,230.

Task 2 - Order information - Using Excel, process the history of orders spreadsheet and use appropriate charts to visualize: How some aspect of quoting or manufacturing has changed over time; and How the quote amount differed for each staff member.

Answer - This task aims at finding the change incurred in the quote amount over the period given in the excel file. To find the change, we have added the quote amount for different months and plotted a graph showing the different months and quote amount increases exponentially in July. The quote amount remains constant for the month august and September.

The manufacturing cost of the product directly depends on the labor cost as the manufacturing cost is the sum of the cost of labor, utility cost, fixed cost and other operational costs. The quote amount of the product also depends on the manufacturing cost. If the manufacturing cost increases then, the quote amount increase and if the manufacturing cost decrease then, the quote amount also decreases. To show the relationship between the manufacturing cost and quote amount which relates to the labor cost, we have found the sum of the manufacturing cost for different months and sum of the quote amount for different months.

Task 3 - Price consistency - Using Excel, analyse the historical data you have available, and create a spreadsheet that allows a member of the Tuxedo Zone team to enter the tuxedo material and size, and gives a quote amount.

Answer - To automate the process of the finding the price of the items, we have used material and size category for the different items. There are five different material in the company named as cotton, tweed, leather, silk and wool. These material items are available in different sizes named as xs, s, m, l, xl. We have separated the quote amount from the given sheet using the 'if' statement. Average price for each item is found and this shows the fixed price of each item.

Task 4 - Process improvement - Extend your spreadsheet page from task 3 to automate the above processes, allowing a member of the team to enter the tuxedo material and size, and in addition to the quote amount indicate whether to start manufacturing immediately.

Answer - It is difficult to determine that which orders should be put in the waiting list and which orders should be put in the immediate manufacturing. We have chosen the quote amount criteria to segregate the orders in the respective categories. The orders which involves manufacturing of the material which are having the quote amount more than 135 are put in the immediate manufacturing list and the orders involving the manufacturing of the material which are having the quote amount less than 135 are put in the waiting list. 'If' statement is used to follow the criteria proposed above and segregate the items in their respective categories.
