Respond to the following questions.
Question : Why in the 1920s and 1930s, particularly in the city of Chicago, did the notion of blaming “the city” for the nation’s crime problem become a dominant explanation (theory) for the causation of crime and criminal behavior?
The great migration occurred in the history of the United States of America, during which there is a great relocation of more than 6 millions of African Americans to the rural south to the cities of the North Midwest and the west from, 1916 to 1970 has huge impact on the urban culture and the civilian life(Woodson,2017). The changes in the social trends and the lives are considered to be the key cause of the crime problem in the city that time. The nations crime problem is attributed to this changing behaviour. Further the cities generally sorted out and homogenous populace is eventually forced to get diversified and scattered into a socially and racial scattered population. These developments evolved into criminal attitude of the people and mostly the criminal problems is attributed to these developments of the city.

Question : Which of the two theories – Chicago School of criminology and social disorganization or the Anomie and Strain Theory -- do you feel better explains the cause of criminal behavior? Explain and support your choice by including citations and references in your post.
Answer : More or less all the theories of crime are focussing on the social life and environment to explain the criminal behaviour of the people. Typical factors like family, school, peer groups, workplace, community and society are often considered to be factors responsible for the escalation of the criminal behaviour in people. However Anomie and strain theory I feel is more appropriate in defining the criminal attitude of the people. The pressures in the social life and the related strain people experience in general do cause the motivation to involve into the crime, The social pressure and the strain better explains the involvement into the crime by people. Of course social disorganization (Sampson 2017) can further enhance and sustains the social behaviour in people.
